A site manager from Tees Valley has won a prestigious award for his work building homes in Wynyard.

James Maidens has won an NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for his ‘excellence in site management’ at Bellway’s Regency Manor development at Wynyard Woods.

Since joining Bellway in 2018, James has been applying his 46 years of industry experience to the development, which has recently led him to be one of the well-deserving NHBC winning site managers of 2019.

The Pride in the Job award celebrates site managers who demonstrate excellence and commitment in producing homes of outstanding quality. More than 250 judges have judged 16,000 developments across the UK, and fewer than 450 site managers won a Quality Award.

The judging process for the Pride in the Job award takes in a multitude of criteria, including foundations, structural work, surface finishes, construction planning and health and safety onsite.

James said: “I’m very proud of my job and there is no greater feeling than helping to create a nice environment for valued customers.

“It’s a great achievement to win an NHBC Pride in the Job award, and by achieving this doing the job I enjoy, it makes me feel very accomplished. It’s a reflection of the efforts of the team onsite, who have worked passionately to build good quality homes within budget and on programme.”

Rob Mitchell, Construction Manager for Bellway Durham said: “Here at Bellway, we are committed to building well-designed, sturdy homes which stand the test of time.

“Earlier this year we won a five-star NHBC award which means that more than nine out of ten of our buyers across the country would recommend Bellway to a friend. Winning this Pride in the Job award means that our buyers can be sure about quality on a local level too.

“We are very proud of James and his team and wish him the best of luck for the next stage of judging.”

The winning site managers will now be put forward for a Seal of Excellence award. The winners will be announced on September 20.

James added: “Regency Manor is now halfway to being completed. This site has a real emphasis on the quality of the build and I would highly recommend the homes here to anyone.”
