A company which manufactures ratchet tensioners for curtainsider trailers is resuming production at its North Yorkshire facility.
Having closely monitored developments, Thirsk-based Langver Engineering has now implemented measures to allow production to commence and ensure its products are available to support the transport industry.
Langver currently supplies to 90 per cent of the UK market.
Scott Taylor, joint managing director, said: “We have been impressed at how well the transport and logistics industry have responded to the crisis, adapting methods to ensure they are able to continue to deliver essential products. Having reviewed our supply chain, we have taken the decision to resume production in order to keep up with demand and support the industry.”
Langver Engineering is an industry leader in the manufacture of curtainsider tensioners and employs 26 people.
Offering a core range of products as well as customisation options, the company is able to supply bespoke products to suit the market.
Claire Matten, joint managing director, added: “We are closely following government advice and have returned with a skeleton staff of just eight members of our team, whilst those who can work from home, continue to do so. Due to our method of combining skilled tradesmen with high tech machinery, we are able to practice social distancing throughout our operation in order to protect the health of our employees.”
In addition to its core products, Langver Engineering has adapted its production to meet the needs of other businesses who have struggled to source products internationally.
Andrew Errington, director at Dalton Engineering, said: “We source and supply products to the farming industry throughout the UK. We have experienced difficulties sourcing some products and Langver Engineering have been able to help us. Although they don’t usually produce the items we require, their level on expertise alongside their skill and innovative machinery has meant they have been able to respond efficiently to our needs and supply products we would usually source abroad.”
The team at Langver Engineering are encouraging industries that are struggling to source steel products to contact them for short term support.
