Newcastle illustrator James Dixon has added another local legend to his list of high profile North East fans.
This time, it was Metro Radio’s turn to get a taste of James’s unique mural art style.
The design is the latest in a line of North East regional designs created by James, which have attracted a host of celebrity fans including Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall.
James said: “I’ve grown up listening to Metro Radio so it was an honour to put my stamp on the new studio on Grey Street and to meet local legends Steve and Karen.”
The station, which has been a staple on North East airwaves since 1974, moved its studios into a Grade II listed address on Grey Street in Newcastle city centre.
Operated by Bauer Radio, Metro had previously been based at Swan House above the 55 Degrees North Roundabout in Newcastle, having moved there from its original Swalwell studios in 2005.
Jamed added: “Lines Behind is growing and I’ve been working around the country, but nothing makes me prouder than seeing my work in and around my home town – I’ll always be a passionate Geordie lad.”
