Knight Frank has appointed a new, senior building consultancy professional to its Newcastle office to support a buoyant order book.
Taryn Wallace, who has over eight years’ experience, joins as senior surveyor from Hollis. She is also a RICS APC assessor.
Taryn will be carrying out building surveys and project managing developments across the North East, including schemes such as the refurbishment of the iconic Toffee Factory in Ouseburn, Newcastle.
The appointment is a personal and professional milestone for Taryn, who has had her sights set on joining Knight Frank since completing her Building Surveying degree.
Taking a proactive approach earlier this year, Taryn approached Tom Jackson, associate partner at Knight Frank, to discuss potential opportunities within the growing Newcastle team.
“I’d always wanted to work for Knight Frank and applied for a placement role with them back in 2018 whilst I was at uni,” said Taryn.
“The strength of the team was a big factor in my decision to ask Knight Frank for a job. I’ve come across almost all the North East building consultancy teams previously and they were always great to deal with and have a fantastic reputation, locally. What also stood out to me was the longevity of the wider Newcastle team; loads of colleagues have spent decades with the business, which speaks volumes about Knight Frank as an employer.
Ian Tew, head of Newcastle office at Knight Frank, said: “We’re very busy working on a range of new construction, refurbishments and surveys across the North and Taryn has hit ground running – taking a lot of pressure off the team.”
