A family business is celebrating as it marks a special milestone.
Taylored Fit Physio moved into a renovated chapel on Front Street in Langley Park last year.
One year on and the firm, which was started by owners Vicky and Mark Smith from their family home in Durham five years ago, has just taken on its 21st team member.
Vicky, who has been a physiotherapist with the NHS and the corporate world for over 25 years, said: “The last year has been a real journey for Mark and I but we’re delighted with how the business has progressed in such a short space of time.
“Just over a year ago there were two of us working from a spare room and now we have an amazing team and a fantastic business location.”
The couple completely refurbished their chapel, which had stood empty for two years, thanks to funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
“When we bought the chapel, it still had its original vestry and pulpit, so we’ve preserved the spirit of the old building while giving it a much more contemporary twist.”
Taylored Fit Physio specialises in physiotherapy, acupuncture and craniosacral therapy.
Since moving to the chapel, Vicky and Mark have expanded their team and bolstered their service offering to include podiatry, chiropody and sports massage therapy, holistic therapies and beauty therapy along with classes teaching various forms of Pilates and yoga including aerial, Kundalini and warm vinyasa.
Vicky specialises in craniosacral therapy, for adults and babies, and people travel far and wide for this gentle, effective treatment.
She said: “Craniosacral therapy can help gently relieve restrictions which babies often pick up during delivery or in utero.
“It can also help relieve wind, colic and constipation and issues with sleeping and feeding.”
Mark added: “Each member of the team brings with them their own skills and experience, which is how we’ve been able to expand our portfolio of treatments and classes way beyond the capacity Vicky and I had this time last year.”
