Employed people with aspirations to work for themselves are being given support to make the leap from secure work to running their own business.

East Durham Business Service (EDBS), as part of the North East England Enterprise Agency (NEEAL) and the Enterprise Support in the North East 2 Programme, is hosting drop-in sessions for people who are keen to become self-employed.

The sessions are being delivered by EDBS adviser Hina Joshi between 5pm and 7pm, which enables those people who work through the day to attend.

Hina said: “Historically the sessions and workshops we hold are on during the day, but we realise this is difficult for those people who are employed.

“What we want is to make our support as accessible as possible, as we know there are many people out there who want to make the leap and launch their own business but don’t know where to start.

“There are so many enterprising people with ideas that, with the right help and guidance, could become successful businesses. The key it to make that help available at times that suit them, and hopefully after work will mean they’re more likely to come and see us.”

The drop-in sessions start on Tuesday, October 15, and .

East Durham Business Service is the enterprise agency for the east of the County Durham area and provides support to people who are interested in working for themselves.
