A dog welfare charity is telling a happy tale after receiving a generous donation from a local housebuilder.
Dogs Trust’s Darlington Rehoming Centre, in Sadberge, has been given £250 by Durham-based housebuilder Bellway, which is currently building new homes across Teesside and County Durham.
The centre, which first opened in 1994, and which rescues and rehomes more than 1,000 dogs each year, plans to spend the donation on food and toys for its current residents. It’s currently undergoing a rebuilding programme to provide more facilities and support for rescue dogs.
Dogs Trust’s Support Relations Officer, Gordon Norrie, said: “When I received the news of the donation, I thought it was fantastic. We are very grateful for Bellway’s generosity.
“We are always on the lookout for sponsors and the £250 that Bellway has given us will help provide both food and toys for the dogs.”
Sales Manager for Bellway Durham, Darren Pelusi, said: “As a local housebuilder, we are committed to supporting local groups and charities that surround our developments and making a positive difference to the local community.
“The donation that we have given to the Dogs Trust in Sadberge is a way for us to show appreciation of the great work that they do.”
