Baldwins, one of the UK’s fastest-growing business advisory firms, has made a major investment in the North East after opening a 12,000 square foot office in Durham.

Reinforcing their commitment to the region, they have agreed a ten-year lease at Bede House on Belmont Business Park just outside of Durham city.

The office will home around 70 business advisory experts offering a complete suite of advisory services under one roof, ranging from audit and accountancy, tax advice and compliance and IT services, through to restructuring and insolvency, forensics, corporate finance, banking and finance, and probate.

David McFarlane, Partner at Baldwins, will lead the firm’s new Durham office.

He said: “Durham is at the heart of the North East and provides the perfect platform for us to serve the region’s businesses in one place, whatever their requirements may be.

“I’m excited to be leading an office of this size at a time when businesses, now more than ever, need well-rounded business experts to help them navigate Brexit uncertainty and regulatory changes such as making tax digital.

“As technology continues to advance, we are primed to support clients with the latest digital solutions; enabling them to have better control of their finances and allowing us to interpret and report data faster, more efficiently and more effectively than ever before.”

With offices across the whole of the region; from Alnwick all the way down to Guisborough, the firm serves over 10,000 clients ranging from sole traders to SMEs and multi-million-pound companies across a wide range of industries.

Andrew Little, Regional Director for Baldwins, added: “This combined office cements Baldwins as a powerhouse of business advisory services in the North East.

“This will be the go-to office in the region for every facet of business advice and lays strong future foundations to accommodate more clients and staff.”

Baldwins’ new Durham office comes as the Baldwins Group continues its strategic expansion plan across the UK, with the firm now operating over 95 offices across England, Scotland and Wales.

David Baldwin is a Board Director at Baldwins and has overseen the firm’s expansion.

He commented: “The North East has formed a key part of our expansion plans over the past few years, and this latest investment reaffirms our commitment to the region and sets us up perfectly for further growth in the future.

“Our coverage nationally means we are big enough to have experts with a range of multi-disciplinary skills, whilst retaining our reputation of supporting clients locally with very personal, tailored service to meet their individual needs.”

Baldwins, a CogitalGroup company, employs more than 3,000 staff and achieves annual turnover of approximately £225 million.
