An author of a children’s book is allowing kids to read it for free and urging online e-book retailers to follow suit.
Margaret-Ann Maxwell, who is a cheesemaker at Doddington Dairy in Wooler, Northumberland, released her first novel, Maggie Moon And The Magnificent Mushroom Year, late last year.
In response to schools closing as a measure to help minimise the spread of Coronavirus and COVID-19 disease, Margaret-Ann has put her book online so that children can read it for free.
She said: “I want to share this around the world so that children can enjoy it without their parents having to pay in these difficult and uncertain times.”kids
Margaret-Ann is also urging larger online book retailers to extend the same generosity.
She added: “I hope that the likes of Amazon and Audible will release ‘ books for free through the pandemic.”
