Schoolchildren in Yarm have been given a boost towards their library resources from a local housebuilder.
Yarm Primary School has received a donation of £500 from Bellway, which is building new homes at Conyers Green, off Green Lane.
Bellway’s donation has helped the school to purchase an array of books, which have been placed in the school library for the pupils to enjoy and will be used for group reading sessions.
Headteacher of Yarm Primary School, Jill Wood, said: “We are appreciative of the donation from Bellway and are enjoying the books that we have been able to buy with it.
“The school council carefully selected the books to ensure that the resources support our Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) time, as well as being made available to children right across the school.”
Sales Manager for Bellway Durham, Oliver Wray, said: “Yarm Primary School is a great example of a school that goes the extra mile to help its pupils, and we are proud that our donation has enabled the school to increase the range of books available to the children.
“We hope that the pupils–some of whom live at our Conyers Green development – get lots of enjoyment and use out of the books for years to come.”
